I read the reports and had to try the lake. I got off work at 4:30pm and fought traffic to put the boat in at 5:15pm. We fished near the resort and upstream with jigs and gulp minnows. I could not find the Red House mentioned in another report? The bites were pretty consistent with 2 smallies(very small) 3 crappie(9 inches) and 2 nice sized yellow perch. Now I will say this....we did eat well last night. We took home 3 fish (No Eggs) and I dont see any issue with eating a few SMALL fish. Unfortunately with the big bass very easy to catch right now (Spawning) I have been seeing stringers of 3lb plus fish being harvested. The regulations state that no more than 1 over 14 inches may be retained and to me that is very generous. The small fish taste better anyway. I live on Long Lake and I guess I am a bit protective of her. I have 3 kids that I would like to see catching big bass in their old age. Okay, no more complaining....go out and enjoy fishing. My wife and I sure did!

Hey T.W. dont worry about getting stuck on the bars, if you stay to the left coming up the river youll be fine when you start to actually get into the river system there is a sunken island right in the middle, but it has a bouy attatched so you can avoid it if memory serves going up the river you stay to the left of the island, there is a relly fantastic crappie hole just on the other side of the resort, theres a house on the north side with a white sandy beach,if you were standing on the beach and look across the river theres a bend in the shorline wich opens up to the bay the resort is in ,right on that corner anchor on the corner and jig of the edge. weve taken alot of really nice crappie there. The resort is sheduled to open this weakend. Are you familiar with feltons slough?

Funny...I am friends with Matthew Felton. The slough is named after his grandpa. He still has a nice waterfront home there and and a horse ranch. I have access to the private ramp there. I catch a lot of bass in that area but yet to catch a crappie. I know it's good but I just havent targeted them enough I guess. I am still a bit confused on the house with the sandy beach but next time out I will look for all these spots. Thanks for the info....maybe we will meet up sometime feel free to call me. 509-999-8176 (scott)

I LOVE Long lake so please do the Small Mouth a favor and keep your limit of the smaller males. They eat well and and that lake could use some thinning of the heard.

Gisteppo: I have a house on Shore (Stevens County Side) Ever hear of Lakeridge Park? I live a close to Lakeridge and that is where I launch. I would like to meet you sometime. You would be the guy to talk to about navigating the pads/flats. If you ever want to hook up call me or send me a message. I will be at Deer Lake Saturday and probably on Long sunday.
