Went to Harry Todd park because I've never been there and my 7 year old niece has never caught a trout. Dock pretty packed but no fish on when we were walking down the hill. Found a small spot on right corner. I threw rooster tail on 4 lb. test and set her up with floating worm off bottom, 3 foot leader and cast a country mile on the ultralight. 10" stocker in 5 minutes was her first that we let go because I told her he was still a baby. She then proceeded to catch one every 20 minutes or so plus short bites and I was getting multiple hits on the spinner but the stockers were too small to latch on, still fun when they smack it though. Only saw 2 other fish caught that were small too but were kept? :( Oh yeah, leader was only 2 lb. test and sure made a difference! Told her after this trip the fish have to be 14" or bigger so others can enjoy, too many anglers tell me they don't do well shore fishing American Lake so lets change that guys and gals! She even had a banana to eat so ther goes that myth, haha! Take a kid fishing...Quality NOT quantity!!!
