My wife, son, and I decided to try Tanwax for the first time. We got to Rainbow RV Resort at 6 am and rented a boat. We started out trolling as we followed the shoreline around just to see what the lake looked like. We picked up a couple on our way to the other end of the lake, my chartruse home made smile blade spinners were the fish's choice. My wife doesn't like trolling so I was just looking for a good spot to anchor. We started on the northeast shore off of a little point that had some downed trees, and worked our way south throughout the day from point to point. We also hit the back of some of the bays without much success. I was trying to find some of those lunker lmb's that I've heard that Tanwax has. There is a ton of structure on this lake that is perfect for lmb: reed and lilly pad beds, and alot of downed trees in the water. I threw senko's, tubes, cranks, ripin shads, spinner baits, buzz baits, pretty much everything in the box, but didn't find any bass. However we did catch more lunker trout than I have ever caught in one day anywhere. This lake has alot of quality rainbows in the 3-5 lb range. It was amazing! We caught almost as many lunkers as we did regular planters. And even the smaller fish fought like maniacs. Most were caught on either: bobber, 6 ft leader, hook, and worm, no weight; or casting my home made chartruse smile blade spinner tipped with a little worm, on 2 ft leader, with 3/8 oz bullet weight. All fish were caught within 20 yards of shore, off points and submerged structure. We also saw people from shore catching lunkers on chartruse power bait. I have no idea how many fish we caught total, we released most, but it was such a good day of fishing that my wife was the one that didn't want to go in until 8pm when we had to get the boat back to the marina.
