As I was driving through Medical Lake I nearly killed a big black cat that ran in front of my truck. I'm usually not a superstitious person however this was a harbinger of things to come.

I met a couple of poachers fishing with bait on the rocks and gently reminded them of the regulations. They picked up their stuff and left as I got ready to call WDFW. The threw a couple of large rocks close to my pontoon boat just to let me know they weren't appreciative of my "help".

After nearly killing the cat and almost getting into a fight I began to fish around 7:00 am The fishing was very slow (I blaming it on the cat!) with only 2 fish to the net in 4+ hours. There was a good hatch of small black chironomids coming off when I got there but I couldn't get a bite in over 2 hours of trying all the colors/sizes in my box. I finally went to a "Hank of Hair" dry fly and caught 2 nice fish (one Tiger and a Rainbow). That quit working and I began to see some damsels and I changed to sinking line and a Six Pack. This didn't work either (see cat above). Buggers, Ducktails and nymphs all were unsuccessful as well.

Finally gave up around noon.

Tight Lines!

Alright tough guy, even law enforcement officers call for backup before approaching people. Please use your head out there. Your loved ones are lucky that rocks were the only weapons used. Besides, we enjoy your reports!

Scooter, you're nicer than I would have been. I'd have just called the law on them and left them as they were so they would get caught in the act. I don't believe folks there are oblivious to the fact it's a no-bait lake.

Rooscooter - Sorry to hear of a terrible outing....but that's Medical I guess, feast or famine. I ran off 4 poachers on the south end a few day ago, then had to run off a couple with a full up motor boat the very next day. They were trolling around and claimed they thought it was West Medical, and were totally oblivious to the LARGE launch sign that says "Mo motors of any kind.......". I don't buy their crap half the time!
