My buddy cole and I and the dog ruger decided to head to Rufus Woods for memmorial day weekend and do some trout fishing. We fished the 22nd through the 24th. What a trip !! I dont think trout fishing will ever be the same for either one of us. We have never fished Rufus before, i have just heard about it over the years. It was everything it was built up to be. Friday we fished for about 4 hrs without a bite. finally we lost a nice one on a rapala. another 45 min went by and we figured out what works. we caught 6 fish friday night right before dark. we never had a problem catching fish the rest of the weekend. we kept are limits all three days we fished and probably released 30 t0 40 fish over the weekend. sunday we launched my boat about 5:00 a.m. we had are limits by 6:00 and we loaded the boat back up took down camp and headed back over the mountains to beat the holiday traffic. All the fish we caught were between 4 and 9 lbs, what a weekend of trout fishn! we spanked em! The ultra light trout rods were alot of fun. Flys on flourcarbon leader 100 ft behind the boat hooked to the down rigger and dropped down 10 to 15 foot seemed to be the hot ticket for us. It didnt seem to matter where we fished but we stayed between pen 1 and pen 2. All and all the best trout fishn either one of us has ever experienced. We will deffinently head back once the weather cools off. Great weekend!! Bring good line these are good fighting fish.
