Hit the lake with Slimyslab and his Key West fishing machine relatively early, 7:30am, and headed to our first of many stops of the day the East shore of Luther Burbank park. We set down our offerings and kept them between 25' and 35' down and trolled North around Calkins Point. Slimeyslab picked up a nice 17" cutt but that was all the area produced for us so we headed further North to shores of Medina. This seemed to be the popular place to fish, as there were a number of other boats working the water. We started around Dabney Point trolling North and I picked up a small 11" cutt about halfway to the 520 bridge. We continued trolling without any further success, pulled our lines just past Bill's place and headed for the choppy side (North) of the 520 bridge. Made a few passes without even a takedown so we headed to the South end of Mercer Island. Slimyslab hooked into a nice resident hatchery king about halfway between the Island and the Mouth of the Cedar River but that was it for this area. Our last stop of the day was the North side of the I-90 bridge. We made a couple of passes one shallow one deep with nothing to show for our efforts and headed back to the launch at 1:30pm. All fish were taken between 25' and 35' down, two on herring and the other on a flasher/hoochie combo. The surface water temps varied between 60 and 64 degrees with variable winds out of the NW for most of the day. Bait was scarce and the majority of the fish we saw on the sounder were up between 10' and 20', however like last week they just weren't hitting anything up there. The other boaters we talked to also reported marginal results, if this keeps up it will make for a very interesting derby.
