Well, if you get a day off from fishing you should go fishing. I've always wanted to fool around on Omak Lake for trophy potential Cutts. Thursday was the day. We fished the very Southern end of the Lake with darting plugs at 2.5mph. Silver and Gold worked best. Sweeping the rods forward and dropping them back really triggered the fish. We found these fish from 5 to 20 feet down in water that was 20 to 40 feet deep right on the Southern Beach. This was a great change of pace for me and allowed us to fish very light gear. Most of the fish were 15 to 17 inches, there were a few that were 19 to 21 inches and the 2 that were six plus pounds are pictured. Remember that you need to purchase a tribal license to fish this water. We purchased ours at the Triangle Shell in Brewster on the way up. The regs are specialized so read them carefully. These fish are easy to get to bite. The hard part is finding them. Once you find a concentration of fish, you can catch them pretty easily. Lighten up your gear for a really neat expierience. I got a chance to chat with the fish biologist for a few minutes. He advised that these fish will deepen up once they come completely off the spawn and the water warms some more. Tight lines.

Go by the turn that is marked for Omak Lake. Turn onto Omak Lake Rd. It is marked for the St. Mary's Mission. Go to the launch on the left. Good Luck! Anton

Nice work, what does 'deep up' mean exactly...? like off the bottom almost?
