Fishing was hot Sunday afternoon. My brother and I landed seven nice Smallies from about 5:30 until 7:00 or so. We stayed on the west side and worked docks from about idlewood park back to the house about a mile and a half south. We were fishing out our Ski Boat, not the best for Bass or any other kind of fishing but only room for one boat. Can't say exactly what i was using, because most of the Bass fisherman that come by the dock are jerks when we ask them how the fishing is. I'll let them figure it out this time. If i get out again this week i'll take the camara.

You might think the guys are being jerks but the truth is that question gets asked 100 time a day unless you are there Bass fishing at that moment it seems kind of a waste of breath.Lets face it most people just asking to ask not to go put it to use #1 I might be getting fish on 3 different types of lures that day I switch depending on depth wind sky & so on #2 It really depends on what type of water you are fishing the south side will fish totally different then the north. #3 what works one day most likely will not the next day or even the next hr. But really what it comes down too is you want a quick answer & most the time there is not one so they must be jerks for not telling you what they just spent all day figuring out.

I Didn't say all Bass Fishermen. I just don't get it. There's 25 miles of shoreline and hundreds of docks, and i ask someone if they're doing any good and they say maybe. Or they just shrug their shoulders. Whats the big secret? Am i going to go out and catch em all? I've been fishing lake sammamish for forty years and kept maybe one Bass. I'm just trying to be freindly when guys come by. I've never asked anyone what they're using or how deep. Just how's it going? or how's the fishing ?

Not to belabor this point but I did not take it as all bass fishermen are jerks 95% that I know are very helpful when not on the water Things change on the water we get very competitive Also it almost always goes like this Catching any ? If I say yes then its On what ? Now I have to say what were how how deep & then they say drop shot whats that or what ever I got them on now I spend 10 or 20min of my time putting on a bass seminar.Dont get me wrong I would love to teach someone but not when I am trying to fish . Now I know you were not going to ask all those questions but how do I know that So its just easier on me to say No or shrug my shoulders.

thanks for the tip smashmouth, i know where idlewood is. in the past I have worked the east side hard with only perch to show for it. I ran through the west side but wasn't marking any fish. If i get my wife out on the boat this weekend maybe we'll drop shot by the docks on the west side this weekend. post pics when you can!

Man... you guys are all sensitive.... Geezus... they are bass... bass like tube rigs, drop shots, jerk baits, crankbaits etc.... try em all. I have seen a very increased presence of pressure from bass fisherman on this lake though.... when you talk about 15 miles of area on this lake, a good bass fisherman will know that only 5 or 10 spots have the bulk of the bass on this lake so... yes that's why there is a reluctance to give away spots, depths, lures, tactics, etc. Believe it or not, it is a large lake, but the pressure on it per square mile has significantly increased in the past few years given our economy, financial stresses and the ever increasing population of people moving in to this area for work. What gets me worse, is when the yahoos who don't respect the fishery target spawning fish and rip them off their beds. Those bass fishermen don't earn any love from me. With the knowledge that is out there these days, more people are getting into it because there is a higher likelihood of success. I don't know if that is such a good thing. People who are new to the sport, should have to learn through experience and not a dang website. We're ruining the sport.

a 'dang website' isn't a free ticket to fish, still got to put in the time! (ask me how I know!) whats more is 'dang websites' are good for exposing new fishermen to regs and environmental issues they may not be aware of if they were just throwing hooks in the water not asking questions!
