Went out with the Father Inlaw Yesterday morning at Spanaway for trout. 8:00am-noon
Trolled the whole lake perimeter 50-60 feet from shore, started left from the launch went down to weed city then across hitting all the coves on the other side then back, A few bites, Father Inlaw caught one trout over by the flagpole straight across from the launch, about 10" rainbow, a lil thin but bloody so we kept him. By the time we got behind the back side of the island heading for the bridge we started getting nailed by perch. Intermitted sun breaks thru the clouds kept us putting on and pulling off our jackets, Was steering with my right (right handed) and holding pole with my left, and was nailed hard....,mind you i was using a 7' river salmon pole cuz my trolling rod malfunctioned....and this rainbow hit my salmon rod hard as hell, then gave up the fight as i reeled him in unrelentlessly with such heavy gear, lifted him outa the water pulled him over the side of the boat and he popped off and bounced of my father Inlaws knee back into the water!!!
Story of my Life lol ( if it had been my right hand i would set the hook better lol) was about a 13-14" bow still a lil on the thin side tho.
We changed our target to perch, Took off our wedding rings and trolled with just a crawler and a torpedo weight 1/4 oz, 4' leader, Used a threader to get the most crawler on the smaller hooks kept the smaller perch from getting hooked so easy, Was fish on literaly 5 seconds after worm in water every castwe threw back about 3 times as many as we kept cuz they were smaller but still left with 19 perch all fat and all over 10" and 2 rainbows kinda on the small side one 10" one 11" we did hook alot of trout, they were all small, i dont keep anything under 12" but the 2 we got were sacrificed to save the wedding rings and ar on the smoker as i type along with the perch.
Think I will hit it up again tommorow with my float tube behind the bridge for more perch!
Tight lines to you all, and have fun no matter what!

Nice, sounds like a good day out on the water. Do they have a dock at Spanaway Lake?

Soulfishhawk...Im not sure if the site sends you notification of comments or not...I tried looking for a way to send directly with no success.
Yes Spanaway has one Single Public dock right next to the launch. And a whole mess of private docks covering up lots of bass.
And a rowboat rental, for 4.25 an hour, sweet deal! Give the guy a 20.00 dollar deposit and forget about it....fish for a few hours, have fun and when you come back to the launch the guy meets u at the water with your change, its like a cash bonus for fishing lol!
Have Fun!
