LAKE BALLINGER :

started off the day trolling with a black and silver rooster tail ( my favorite). I had a few hits before i even made it about halfway around the area I troll but didnt land anything. As i was in the 2nd round of trolling i landed a decent fighting fish and got him right up to the boat and he got off before i could get the net (about pan size stock trout). So I put my line back out and started trolling again and before i got about 50 yards down bam I had landed another one. Usually with smaller trout they hit the surface and either jump out or stay up near the top until you get them to the boat then they go ape lol. With this fish i realized that it was down about 10ft in the water the whole time i was reeling it in (very very slowly taking my time). I had my polarized glasses on so i was able to see it was a decent size fish about 5 ft away from the boat as it got closer to the top of the water. didnt put up to much of a fight until he saw the boat then he went kinda crazy but by then i had the net under him and this prized fish was all mine. Nice way to start the day. Later that day i landed a nice pan size trout about 30ft back from the boat and he jumped 2-3 ft clear out of the water and was off the hook. all in all i ended up with the big 2 footer a nice 1lb trout and a total of 3 that i missed. two that got to the boat and got off before i could get the net and the acrobatic one. i love fishing this lake for trout there are some big ones in there man. I caught the big one about 10-15ft down. I have notice on other occasians that i caught some trout that have these wierd sores on them and these little white slimmy parasites comming out of the sores, does anyone know what is infecting some of these fish? I usually kill them and put them in the trash so they dont infect the other fish in the lake. anyways this lake is best fished dusk or dawn. You can fish when its cloudy pretty well just not when the lake is very windy. If you do fish when its windy try fishing at the end of the lake were the wind is comming in from it will be a lot less windy and smoothe.
