Sounds like a good day on the lake. Hows the boat traffic on the lake getting? How big were the fish that you guys were catching and what kind of rig were you using? I hope to try my luck with perch out there soon since i havent had much luck where i have been going. I talked to one guy and said the best way to catch these fish are on a bobber? I just dont know, havent been fishing here for that long so this i all kind of new to me. Well good report and hope you have some tips for me.. Thanks

On Friday the boat traffic wasn't bad at all. We saw maybe four boats waterskiing, of course one had to continuously buzz the area we were fishing in! About a half dozen boats were working the shorelines for bass. We were fishing directly under the boat with just a size 6 baitholder, a split shot 8 inches above the hook, maybe a foot off the bottom. We started with worms and switched to perch meat. I think you get a little bigger fish with "meat". The biggest fish were 9 inches, but there were a lot of them! When we first started fishing Sammamish for perch six or seven years ago, 12 and 13 inchers were common. The area at the N end where the pilings extend from the E shore has been the most consistant place for us,(long run from the launch) not that we are any great experts! The outer pilings are marked by orange cones. Go slow and you shouldn't have any problems. We've also caught fish at the S end outside the swimming beach.

Bruce, thanks for the info. I hope to be giving that a try soon. Were the fish in deeper water? I m assuming you guys were anchored up instead of trolling. Is there crappie in there as well? Ive been reading that there s a variety or fish that you can get into. Thanks again for all the great info, it seems like most people here don t like to help others out. So thanks again

Hanapaa-we were fishing (anchored) in13 feet of water, just inside the outer pilings. I've never seen any crappies in Sammamish but I never targeted them. If they are around Slabking would know! Good luck!

hey bruce, Thanks again for the info. Correct me if i m wrong on this, but is there an area near the boat launch that you cant fish? I thought i read or heard something about that.

hanapaa, the area around the mouth of Issaquah Creek is closed, probably to protect salmon.

I think the perch in Lake Sammamish are not decreasing in size. I've caught many many perch closer to 12 and 13 inches in the Fall. In the spring, the smaller perch are more aggressive. When you find a large school of perch... try moving to the outer edges of the school and you'll catch larger perch. There aren't as many naturally, however, there are still plenty to keep you busy all day.
As for Crappie..... there are a few locations in the lake that hold the crappie, however, they aren't as abundant as the other panfish. if you fish tight against the pilings and submerged logs, eventually, you might be able to find these tasty fish.
