Dropped anchor and began fishing at 10:00. Surface water temp a cool 72 and winds from the SW at 10-12 MPH. Temp mid 60s to 70. Fished a dual still water nymph and chironomid vertically in 25 feet of water. Could not get a single take or bump in the first hour. Another gentlemen near the launch was struggling also. No visible hatches whatsoever, no fish rising and only 2 fish marked. They seemed very inactive. Moved to another location and went fishless for another hour, getting just one half-hearted tap. At 12:00 I moved back to my original location directly across from the launch and immediately began getting solid takes on the still water, with three to net and another lost in the next 40 minutes. A short-lived damsel hatch was responsible for this activity and things quit abruptly when this hatch ended. Went fishless for another hour and some change before calling it a day. I don't know if it was the recent cold weather or lack of hatches or a combination of the two, but it was a rather slow day by Amber standards!
