Where did the fish go? Launched the boat at the public ramp near the Spokane house, we tried near the mouth of the little Spokane.... no fish. Then made our way a few miles down river, fishing all of the docks...... still no fish! Iv had this kind of luck here for the last few weeks. Last year at this time these spots always produced. I noticed about a mile down from the launch (right after the S curve in the river) the water is really green, prob only 6 inches of visibility. Iv pretty much tried everything in my tackle box, not even much squaw action. The bad luck came on after I added a fish finder to my boat, are the bass spooked by the sonar noise? I'm heading back out tomorrow, if anyone has any tips they would be greatly appreciated!

By NO means am I an expert, but as you read the post by me 2 below yours (i think) i've had great luck with these spots. i'm just starting out bass fishing but every time i've been out along the docks (mostly along the left side past nine mile resort...if you launch at the public area north of spokane house) I've caught something good or at least had great action. I have had the best luck with the bottom water, about 10 feet or less, green senko worm. I rig it with a wieght which people might disagree with but it's always worked for me. Anyways, just something that produced for me.....but hey, good luck and the more you fish the more you'll catch so keep up the work....it'll pay off for sure- whatever you use!! take care

Try fishing deeper with a slower presentation as davejay mentioned.

If you are not particularly targeting large mouth, I would suggest heading towards willow bay. Once you have past suncrest you will find rocky shorelines on the left side of the lake. I can guarantee that if you fish a 2 1/2" pumpkinseed gitzit tube jig, you will find the small mouth. I hear guys fishing crankbaits and senkos all the time but I would put the ol pumpkinseed tube jig against them any day. It's a can't miss lure. At these rocks you can fisn anywhere from 0 feet to 20 feet. Start shallow in the morning and work your way out to deeper water if you don't find them. They will be there. While we are on the subject of Long Lake. a friend of mine got into some awsome perch out ther last friday. He got several over 12" and a couple that were 14" and real fat. Hi fished with chartruse crappie jigs on the outside of some weedbeds between nine mile launch and willow bay. Happy Fishing

bassassain: I live up at Long Lake and every night on my drive home I see multiple boats fishing the mouth of the LSR and the ledges/dropoffs. It has had so much pressure I am not surprised it is slow. The water color got bad after the weeds were sprayed/poisioned and now they are rotting. All the below advice is good but I would go with AJ's Dad and use a small tube, grub or a leech. I have been doing well with small baits and I even use my sonar all day! LOL!

If I were going out this evening I would start out throwing a frog on any of the pad fields. When it gets hot like this the fish are looking for shade and there is no bigger shade provider than those pads. Throw any kind of hollow body frog onto the pads and fish it quick. Some of my biggest bites have come on the frog in the middle of the day but you really need to be fishing the thickest cover you can find. On Long that's pads. BTW it's not just the LM that will destroy that frog either. You may be surprised at how many SM are tucked up undeer those pad fields as well. Don't give up after half an hour if you don't get bit. It will happen and when it does it will be awesome. The other thing that has been getting me good bites is a swim bait fished parallel to the deeper weed lines. I fished a 4,5,and 6 inch hollow bodied swim bait in the middle of the day on Friday and caught some good SM on all 3 of them. This time of year fish want a big meal. Big fish want a big meal anyway. They don't want to feed as often so they eat bigger fish. Perch are they key forage for SM this time of year and blue gill are the key forage for LM. If it's numbers of smaller fish you are after then fish deeper with smaller baits and you will stay bit all day but if you are looking to fill a photo album then fish bigger baits. The crazy thing is smaller fish will eat those bigger baits as well. I didn't catch a single SM over 2.5 on Friday on those swimbaits. Good Luck!
