Well, if I had even caught a small bass I would have taken a photo to post but I got a big fat skunk. I fished the pads Friday (Last Night) for 2 hours and than went back at 4am-6am this morning and got skunked again today! It is a rare occurance for me to get skunked on my home lake and I have never got skunked two days in a row. MattG and his son are going to have to take me out and school me. Well, I am greatly humbled today but still feeling blessed to be able to fish 2 days in a row. Notice I said fish and not catch!!!!
Desertcreek: Was that you fishing alone on the first set of pads last night at 8pm?

Nothing better than a day out on the lake. We have not hit the pads for a couple weeks, we just could not pull anything out.
We are fishing the drops right know and getting pretty lucky. We look forward to seeing some more pic's of your big fish in the up coming day's.
My son gets a kick out of this web-site. He's checking it all the time now to see what's working for everyone. Then goes out and kicks my tail. I can't even take credit for his fish anymore. It all the information he's pulling from you guy's. Thanks for posting.

dont know why but the largemouth haven't been moved into the pads this year at Long at all like they were last year. the pads are different too for some reason; at the resort launch last year the dollar pads went clear out to the break, this year they are nowhere near it. probably has something to do with how long the lake has been sitting at full pool; it has a much more stagnant feel to it this year and the milfoil is getting really bad in places.

Matt: Thats great to hear and I love it when one of my kids kick my Butt! LoL! There is actually a youth bass tourney going on today here. Nothing better than to see kids behind a fishing pole VS a game controller.
Nik: The pads were sprayed early this year with weed killer. They were sprayed last year also but in early August. That is why they are different. The LM Bass have been in the pads but not very consistent. They were smoking hot in June but sure slowed some this month.

Scott,
I wish that was me Sturday night but it wasn't. I haven't had time to post my reports yet but hopefully tonight. I did fish all day Friday and had my kids at the kids fish-in tournament on Staurday. It has been tougher for sure but we are still getting bit. I haven't been doing that awesome but lately the guy in the back of my boat has been doing well.

The weed spraying didn't affect the area you are fishing, this is the normal annual cycling of where the pads grow each year. With our substantial runoff last year and decent one this year, it takes sediment and redistributes it elsewhere. When that happens, it moves the tubers of the floating heart lily pads. If they drop into water deeper than 10', they wont grow. The areas sprayed are reducing in number because the guy spraying is doing a lackadaisical job of it and not standing by his work.

Hitting the breaks is the way to go, as well as steep shorelines running off into more than 20' of water that are SHADED. Pretend you are a bass, its really hot out, where would you go? Food is plentiful in the whole lake with a strong year class, so they won't be stuck in places trying to find a meal. I also noticed that we only had fish in the pads for a short period this year, but then again water temps are over 80 degrees in the entire lake.
