My persistence with continuing to fish this nice lake is starting to pay off! (Still tough getting the boat in/out with the poor condition of the boat launch area, especially on nice days when there are a lot of people out enjoying this lake, the parking area gets pretty crowded) In the last week or so, I have landed some nice perch; one 10" and a real nice 11" one yesterday. Some in the 7-8" range that I couldn't resist keeping, as well. (get enough to fillet, still makes a good meal) The perch seem to be the predominant species, although we have caught some (small) sunnies and even a few small bass. I've heard of some larger bass being caught, I'll just have to keep trying to find them. I'll keep trying different techniques and areas of the lake, just nice to be able to know I can head up there and land something, now. Worms work good, but the smaller fish seem to go after those more than the bigger ones. I've had better luck with the larger ones with lures, casting and even trolling. Seems odd to be trolling for perch, but hey, if it works... I'll keep working this lake and posting when I can.
