Not the best beginning for the day. Arrived at just around noon at the north launch (the one closest to the dam) and began trolling around the island. I was using a downrigger at about 30 feet with no luck, which I later got caught on a stump and broke my steel cable. lost it all...
Switched over to a more standard weighted line with a wedding band and managed to catch just a few small yellow perch and a couple small bullheads while trolling the long now wake zone area. At least there was plenty of shade there. Without any luck along there, we moved back to finish circling the island and managed to catch one 11 rainbow and 3 13 inch kokanees in the last hour before the long wait at the boat launch. It was a nice day on the lake, but costly with the lost gear.
Think its time to break out the saltwater gear.

The island that you circled (shaped like a fish on the map) has a LOT of shallow areas on the south and east sides. I get snagged there in my kayak all the time, but I use 40lb test and I usually don't lose anything, sometimes the lure. I just don't troll there anymore and stick to the north and west sides.
