Hit Goodwin this morning around 9:00am with my grandson. We fished till 1:00 pm. We trolled JSR05 jointed shad raps(crawdad) up in the north western bowl for an hour and half. (This is my local lake so I have spent some time here) I troll for small mouth up in that bowl fast this time of year, between 1.8 and 2.4 miles per hour.We both caught 3 small mouth from a pound to two pounds and a suicidal perch each. We then went down to mid lake and near the south end trolling the same shad rap lures. The same applys for the trout in this lake I troll fast at mid lake between 2.2 and 4.5 mile per hour. We caught 13 trout going from 12 to 14 inches.All fish were released unharmed(barbless hooks)except one.
As I was reeling in one that was pulling a little harder than most I says to my Grandson that they put some tripps in this lake.Just as I said that the fish heads stright for the bottom. When he was finally in the boat it was a 3 .5 pound tripp. He was bleeding from some foul hook to the face so we kept that one for the smoker.
