Ten years later and I have a son, Michael, age 9, who hiked with me to the lake. We arrived shortly after 2PM, set up camp, and then went fishing. I didn’t have the float tube with me this time. The water temperature was 65 degrees and the skies were overcast to partly sunny with an air temperature in the low 70’s. The fish were non existent, except for a few small ones lazily rising a hundred yards or more from shore. Several other fishing from shore also caught none. I suspect the fish are holding deep in cooler water. North side of the lake did have some good shoals with aquatic growth for insect production, but no visible fish cruising here during the day, and the water is crystal clear. Michael fished with seal bugger rigged to a bobber and I waded out and casted flies from shore.
