Well, it took our old friend Dave to remind us how to fish for perch on Downs. You get right in the pads, find a hole, drop the jig down to the bottom and wait. When they stop biting, move up or down the pad line. We caught several perch on Saturday evening, really nice size too. The picture is a 12" perch caught late, around 7:15pm while we were casting for crappie. Sunday we spent all day fishing for perch in the pads and ended up with 45. We don't keep anything less than 9", we want them to grow up a little. So the perch are on the bite at Downs Lake. Over the past week I know of 200 or so perch caught and a few crappie. We will be back on the weekends till closing (September 30) to get our numbers up from 45 to 145 like the good ol days.
