Went fishing on Sammamish on Saturday afternoon. the day was kinda slow to start, but then I was able to catch these guys surprisingly.... in 70ft. of water. I had spent most of the day chasing schools of perch in 40 ft of water. i would find a mass of fish... anchor up catch 2 fish and the massive schools would move on... the fish were also suspended and chasing what looked like baby salmon smolt. There are absolute masses of perch munching anything they can. I decided to try trolling for trout and kept going over large masses of fish at 70 ft. so... finally I stopped and tried it. I dropped down to 70 ft. and bang.....perch after perch after perch. The fish were schooled real tight and feeding on stickleback. I was surprised that the perch had moved this deep so early..... but it shows they are just following the food source as all fish do.
By the way, I didn't catch any trout. :( But... if you want perch... i believe the time has come to start fishing. this fishing can be real fun.... and as you can see.. Sammamish has some real hogs.
