Me and my brother went to cranberry lake to try for some trout. The lake looks nice.
First time for me on this lake .I heard that this lake has some browns.I never caught a brown
I tried some lakes that have them but with no luck.So we startet fishing from shore by the road; and i said to my brother its too shallow we wont catch anything whitout the boat.So we saw a sighn that said that there is a fishing dock .3 of a mile ; so we hiked litlle bit and found the fishing dock and started casting our spoons. Frst couplle of casts nothing then 10 minutes later BAM i had a strike. I thought it was a normal size rainbow trout but it was a nice brown trout. Finally a brown for me it was 19 inches and it weighet almost 3 lbs.Did not fought hard.
Also caught a small bass. Good day of fishing.Thight lines.

Good to see a late fall report for Cranberry. It's a lake I have fished the last 30 years with often great success. The water along the road is actually the deepest part of the lake at 25+ feet deep. The area near the dock as far as a person can cast is 10 feet deep. There were thousands of brown trout planted in Cranberry Lake a few years back and the lake receives moderate fishing pressure throughout the year, with the majority of folks fishing from shore. So there are lots of fish in this lake just waiting for a fight. I have found over the years that the bite seems to be best when the water temp is around 60 degrees so the colder times of the year have not produced as well for me. Anyway, thanks for your report and good job catching a nice brown.
