I wish all the fish I caught there had full tails it makes such a difference in the fight.

1/9/2010 6:59:00 PMIt was a cooold and overcast morning. And the fish did not bite for us until noonish or after, not even a single hit. The Malottguy was a trooper as cast after cast, after cast, and jig and jig until his arms almost fell off, and still no complaints. I had to keep reassuring him that yes, we really do catch fish this way. We did also cast some spinners and crocs, but to no avail. Then back to the jig. One thing the "Modest" (not) Malottguy left out of the report is both 10 pounders were his. Mine weighed in around six pounds, both of the sixes could have been twins. Anyway, Malotguy jiged well, and fought the fish well. The one with the full tail made several clutch screaming runs before he was netted. There was a boat that anchored up close to where we were fishing (using bait), and I think we put on a good show for them before they pulled anchor and left. On the way out we saw Two Bald eagles sitting on a cross arm of a power pole, and all around the pole were mule deer browsing. A great site to see. All in All it was a hard day on the water, and I was getting worried since we couldn't get a bite. But thanks Malottguy for not giving up and tossing me in the river.
Good fishing all, and stay safe out there.

Rufus Woods is a therapeutic fishing hole for us, even when the fish don't bite, so I guess we'll keep going.
