A fun day at our local early season trout hole. Started at 0530 fishing from the boat ramp waiting for my buddy with his boat, got two nice browns right off the bat, launched and trolled around the sandy areas with rainbow and florescent orange with gold side rapalas all broken backs. We ended the morning with two limits for the three of us, my buddy was going back out with his grandson so he was not to upset that he did not limit by the time he had to drop me off for WORK. Sad thing for me after such a fun morning. Any way have since spoken to my buddy and he ended up with his limit and his grandson talking about the giant trout that got away at the net. By the way I was at work by 1100 am so that gives you an idea of how constant the fishing was. All brown no rainbows, strange.All fish between about 16"- 22". Am going to try again maybe wednesday, will let you know...D P.S I have a picture on my phone that we took at about 0800 to send to one of my coworkers if there is a way to get it on here let me know.

How large was the one that got away? Those are some nice Browns! The colors can be so different between lakes. Hope the pictures get uploaded, sooooooooooooon!

Grandson estimates HUGE my buddy says possibly as large as 5 + pds

A 5+ pound Brown would be 24" or better depending on girth, wouldn't it?

We were just flat lining the rapalas out about 100 feet so i would guess on my four pound line they are probably 4-5' deep and the size we use the number 7 broken back. the weeds are pretty tall already so keep an eye open so you dont bury your lure in them. moto my buddy said he got a good look at this big boy and feels it was a carry over that he says was a solid 22" and had real nice shoulders and absolutly beautiful colors.
