Fish South side of the lake around cedar and the Island with only one unsuccessful take down at 40’ in 110’ of water ,that I assumed to be a trout. After trolling with no success I decided to go after the big fish on the bottom that I talked about in my previous post. Drop shot on the bottom with herring or night crawlers didn’t do much. So I decided to troll that area to see if would produce any.

Dragged everything on the bottom behind my boat ( with the risk of loosing gear) and got 3 of those not that big fish after 40 minutes of trying. I ended up with 3 squah fish: 3 lb, 2 lb and 1 lb.
3 other boats on the lake with no success. Probably I was the only one that caught fish.

what do squaws taste like? are they smoker worthy? on a day of not catching, sometimes even junk fish give you some thing to do.

Yea, trying to get a trout for days, with no succes, any other fish is welcome. same technic used for cutts, but working the buttom will get you this squaw fish. never had a chance to eat it. that is a lot of it on the bottom. youre right fishnazzi may be the future next trout.

Squaw's are pretty good to eat, they are a freshwater relative of Cod. I've only pan fried them, but I'm sure they would do just fine in a smoker.
