Tried fishing around floating logs and stumps in Kapowsin for some bass. I got one hit, but somehow the fish managed to miss the hooks. Very snaggy, but manageable. There were LOTS of bugs in the water, so the fish were likely stuffed full and not interested in biting.

The weather gets a 5 star rating. It was a beautiful day to be on the water, and there were more kayaks than powerboats. Saw some guys in a powerboat trying to use their engine to un-snag their anchor from a log. haha, not smart.

Do you fish Kapowsin much? I haven't fished it as much as I used to because I haven't been able to catch the bass like I used to. I thought that when they put in the new boat launch that people would see some great bass. I don't know that that happened.

No I don't. But everyone I saw at the launch said they caught nothing. It's a pretty shallow lake, and not that big. Bass probably don't get very big there.

i've heard the exact oposite, that it can be an awesome bass hole. But i have had days where I pulled in 21+ inch rainbows trolling to the duck blind, and days where I couldn't get a bite to save my life. I think becaue the lake is shallow, but huge acreage wise, fish can move away pretty easy and look for the 'deep' spots. plus there is soo much marsh and log cover.

There are some very large bass in Kapowsin. The problem with the lake is that there is a huge food supply, they are very elusive with so much cover, and very sensitive to both time of day and water temp. Early early mornings is when I have had my best luck on a hot day in spring around the spawn. Or late in the summer late in the evening on plastics and topwater in the most shallow areas. Even though there is a lot of timber in the lake the water stays pretty clear so cast far and stay seated, don't stand up and fish it. I have seen bass nesting literally 50 feet away and take off when I was standing up. The east end of the lake or the far south end of the lake along the pilings have benefitted me the most. Also these fish late strike or bump the bait so use a trailer hook.
