Arrived at the lake at 9:00 A.M. Set up my pontoon boat, which was still covered in snow and freezing rain (brrrrrrrr) from the previous night, then spent a half hour sitting in my truck lamenting the cold temps and windy conditions. At 9:30 one of my partners arrived so I had to "cowboy up" and get busy. Headed to my usual haunt in the south end. Water temp had fallen to 42, previously at 44. Winds from the south at 10-20 MPH, temps upper 30s to low 40s (brrrrrrrrr). I ended up with nearly 20 fish to net, 3 cutts and the rest rainbows, ranging from 12-19". I hung and lost several more. Each of my partners got several apiece also. The fish were more active than I'd expected considering the cold water temp but they are still lethargic and have a long way to go before top fighting shape. We fished until about 3:30. Only saw a total of 8 boats all day, amazing for a Saturday (brrrrrrrr). We got fish on still water nymphs, skip nymphs, blood worms, leeches, and black chironomid patterns, all fished by way of floating line and indicators. P.S. Did I mention it was freaking cold?
