Launched about 9:30am into a very cold 10mph wind out of the north. Headed northwest towards my favorite rocky area. Wind was variable from 2-10mph and constantly changing directions it seemed, first out of the north, then northeast, then east and by the time I left it was blowing out of the west. Weather was partly cloudy and cold, when the wind would die and the sun was out it was actually pleasant! Water temps were 48-49* and a bit clouded from yesterday's big wind storm.

I fished the rocky point with green grubs, cranks, jerkbaits and jigs for about an hour with no takers. Headed east across the lake into the cove and flipped docks for largemouth, again nothing. Worked the shallow flat on the northwest exit of that cove out to 15 feet for smallies, nothing. Headed northeast to the spot I caught one on a crank last week, fished cranks, grubs and a jerkbait over grass out to 15 feet, nothing. Ran back southwest to the small cove due west of the County Park, fished all over that area including docks and drop off's out to 20 feet, guess what?...nothing.

By this time the sun had stayed out for about 2hrs so I decided to head back to the rocky point area mainly because I know there are a ton of rocks out to about 16-18 feet. I cut off a couple lures and switched up to a 1/4oz and a 3/8oz brown football style shakey-head rig, with a Zoom Swamp Crawler in brown as the lure of choice, both rigged on 8lb Trilene 100% flourocarbon line, second cast nabbed the 4.0lb smallie! Carpet bombed the area working north casting west into the wind, up into about 5' of water with the boat in 15', caught fish number two that weighed 3.2lbs about 15 minutes after the first. Two casts later I hooked into fish 3 while reeling in but he self released at the boat....dropped the shakey head rod and picked up the crankbait rod, got up shallow and casted back out to 15' (with the wind) first cast and a 2.5lb smallie latched on to the Bomber crawfish colored crankbait on 12lb Trilene 100% flourocarbon, landed and released that one and continued the process, boat in 5' casting to deeper water but couldn't get another one on the crank. Turned around, put the boat back in 15' and fished back south along the point casting shallow and dragging my bait back through the rocks, but no more wanted to play.

Had to leave shortly after that, but am pretty sure I could have at least found one more in that area! Fished out in front of the launch for ten minutes before heading in and pulling out. At least 3 other boats on the water bass fishing, but didn't chat with any of them to see how they did? I didn't see any other fish landed personallly, but I have no idea how they actually did??

All fish fought good this time! Check your line frequently fishing around these rocks, I had to retie seven times throughout the day from scraping on rocks.
