so i made it to my lake and havent been there in a while. i started fly fishing not long ago and this is my 7th time doing it without any luck before, execpt the learning ive done. i was targeting a little school of fish (about 30-40) that was swimming the shore line all day. after about a couple hours i finally hook and land my first fish with fly rod and was about a 12in trout. after the release i kept seeing this huge trout that would just swim past my presentation every time i would get it in front of its face, so just before i left i shot my line out in front of him and left my lure standing still, he turned a 90 degrees toward it to my suprise and inhaled my black wooly bugger, set the hook and my drag and accepted his 5 min fight to shore. as i landed him i turned around and notice i had a crowed of about 20 parents and kids. and when i released the fish everybody was clapping and cheering. my girl bought me a new 9' fly rod (way better than my first $20 one) and this was my first day with it, what a way to break it in......i also meet carl anderson, cool guy knows his stuff

Good job, catching a big trout on a fly rod is exciting and on the new rod especially. Has there been a lot of pressure there?

Nice man! I just started myself at the end of last year. Started tying wooly buggers and pheasant tailed nymphs. I need to get out and try them out , bradley sounds like a decent place.

nice fish. I'd have a hard time tossing back that much smoker meat but you set a good example for a lot of peopel watching it sounds like.

I just started fly fishing, and I live near there so might go practice. If you don't mind my asking, what sort of fly works good in a lake like that? Dry. nymph, any tips?
