Fished the South End of Potholes hard for two days. Mainly trolled along Medicare Beach and the western half of Lind Coulee. C/R'd six small walleyes, most on small jigs. Caught the only keeper, 15 inch, with a black/silver Rapala behind a bottom bouncer. The few other fishermen we saw, and one game warden, told us that the fishing had been slow all week. Everyone told us the fishing would be much better in late April and early May.

As a consolation prize, we picked up a 26 inch Burbot and an 18 inch catfish, both on worm harnesses behind a bottom bouncer. That Burbot (fresh water ling cod) was the ugliest fish I've ever caught. My buddy and I didn't know what it was until the game warden identified it for us.

It WAS good eats. The game warden told us it was like poor man's lobster and recommended filleting it out, then cutting the fillets into chunks, boiling them in salted water for five minutes or so, then dipping in butter. Mmmm, that fish didn't last long!
