Fairly good morning at Amber, although I was not there long, maybe an hour and a half. Several nice fish caught on a large black chironomid suspended under an indicator about eight feet deep in 20' of water. Each fish caught was hooked about 15'-20' from shore. I was the only boat on the lake, which surprised me due to the fact that there were fifteen parties on the water by the same time the previous day. I was off the water by 10:00, just as the wind picked up from the west. This chironomid is huge with a metalic, irredescent black and green body on a slightly curved hook. It has a tungsten bead, peacock thorax, and white gills. Fish it still and keep the slack out of your line!

Thanks flyguy1701 for the report. When you say large, are we talking size 8 large or ? Those type flies start around size 30 don't they?

Should have asked: What size fish did ya catch?

I'd say it was a size 12 on a 3X hook. The fish were all decent-sized, 16"-18". Good luck.
