Launched at the Corps Launch above Chief Joseph dam around 0930 for some solo fishing, ran up to the pump #1 area, jigged along shoreline. Picked up several fish ranging from 10 inches to approx 5#. As it was early in the day, these were C&Red in hopes of a "Bigger" fish. Then I ran up to the lower pens area, and commenced to hit past productive spots. Slow catching, I only hooked a few 2-3 pounders, with very few hits. Hooked up a "Bingo Bug" for the first time, and WOW, Those lil things are quite active on retrieve. Didn't hook-up any fish on the Bingo Bugs, but got lots of strikes. Maybe next time I'll get the hang of fishing them. Trolled a small Husky Jerk, and picked up a small native rainbow below the pens (C&R), then went back to jigging. Picked up a couple on Pink, and as I was getting ready to head back down river, I hooked up with a nice tripp on a plastic minnow immitation on a 1/8oz green with red glitter jighead. It took me 3 tries to get him in the net, but finnally got it in and weighed it out at 13# 4oz. I fished around a little while longer, but no more hits. I then went back down to the Pump #1 area, and hooked up with a couple small fish. I took out around 6:00 PM, and headed home. Spoke with a couple of fishermen while getting the boat ready for the trip home, and one of them had picked up a 9# 6oz tripp below the lower pens along with some small tagged fish. The other party had fished in the area of "Lone Pine Island", and had a few fish to show. The biggest looked to be 6-7 pounds, and they had hooked smaller ones also. It was a bit windy at times, but overall nice weather and fish in the boat. Water temp ranged from 41-43 degrees. I met FLYFISHERGUY on the water, he and family were over to do some vacationing and fishing. Can't wait to see his report.
Sharp hooks, tight lines, and calm waters to everyone.
