We hit Lake Stevens again today. The first few hours were slow but we were still able to pick away at the kokes. Then about 11:00 all heck broke loose and the kokanee were suicidal. A number of times we had three fish on at once. If you consider the weather and the fishing it was an incredible day.
We went through the box today and fished spoons, mini squids, some custom mini squid/spinner things I set up and my custom wedding bands. All were fished behind swing blades or Seps dodgers. We fished one line with no additional weight about 70’ behind the boat. The second rod was lead line and after some experimentation finally settled on one color. The third rod was fished off the rigger. I chased meter marks to about 70’ and then found the magic depth to be exactly 16’. Go figure but it worked. Final score was 15 kokanee with many being around 15” and 1 rainbow. Even if we hadn’t caught any fish, what a day on the water…72 degrees in April!
