4/24/2010 3:28:00 PMHaven't eaten any of the Spring fish, but caught a bunch last Fall that were plenty tasty. I would imagine that because they are feeding on the snails right now, their flesh will taste differently than when they start to actively feed on the fly hatches. It wouldn't surprise me if they taste "muddy" right now. I'm going to save the Spring fish for the smoker. Yes, they are planted, but they could be from last year's plant. I was told, now that they're actively feeding, they should grow about 2" per month.

4/24/2010 7:56:00 PMI've caught plenty of 19-25 inchers this year with snails in them and they taste great when I smokem, had many compliments. May need better brine or smoking process. Just about all trout that big should be smoked or baked never fried.
