Took my daughter, my best friend and his step son and spent the morning on Conconully Lake.
We started on the east side of the lake using our normal power egggs with a powerbait nugget. We used various colors but the combo that work was our old stand by of two chartreuse eggs and fl red nugget.

First fish caught was about as odd as it can come. I got a hit them my daughter so we both set our hooks and my fish goes towards her and hers towards mine then both right at us. I was thinking wow cool double, I get mine close to shore and them my daughters line goes limp. I thought dang she lost hers so I pull my fish up and her line is wrapped with mine so had her reel hers up and I stopped dumbfounded. we BOTH caught the same fish both hooks and bait where stuck inside his mouth. Weird is all I have to say.

Well then it got slow so we decided to hop in the truck and drive to the other side. I again get a hit and miss my friend does same and his poor stepson got zippo( felt bad for the lil guy). Then I thought I bumped my daughters rod and knocked it in the water so I puck it feel something so yell CARRIE she comes running sets the hook while im trying to let go of her rod and down it goes. I thought wow a bit better fish than the first(which was 1 pound on the dot). She fights it well letting it run when needed and reeling when she could. My friend says WOW that ones big I say naw then I see it. She finally gets it to shore I grab it and stringer it up. A gentleman near us measured it out at 19 inches. We guess 2 pounds.

The fishing just died. So brought the kids down to weigh her big one for the derby and it weighed in at 2.6 pounds. Which turned out to be the youth #1 for the weekend and we waited around for prize announcements and when her name was called I am not sure who was more proud me or her. She got all sorts of shirts, tackle box, blue ray movies and misc. other things along with two cases of soda.

I want to thank the town of Conconully for putting on a great event and will hit it again next year seeing we are locals to Okanogan County.

thats awesome. this is one of my favorite lakes and communities in all of washington. how is the water level? last fall it was really bad, dry for a good couple hundred yards it seemed.

every year i mean to go out for the derby and I keep forgetting...

Surprisingly the lake is much higher than it has for a few years. But that is not to say its high LOL. I wish it would come to days of old. Fishing was real slow overall. I do not think they stock as many fish in there as in the past because of the budget cuts that were made.

The largest for the adults was a 6 pound one a lady caught was a nice looking fish.

wow, I have fished Conconully for 6-8 years pretty much consecutively (or longer, met my wife there 11 years ago this august) and have never seen anyone in our group take a 6lb fisher. Its probably a little fished out by the time we get there in August.

I did get a nice 3lb smallie there last year though.

The largest I have ever heard taken was out of the lower lake. It was near 8 lbs but that was over 20 years ago. It was nice fish and they figure it was a native fish not a plant.
