I decided to finally checkout Lost Lake after wondering about it for so long. Made it up there around 11:00 and fished until around 4:00 pm. The wind was up, and the water was showing some white caps. I almost bailed and went to Rattlesnake. Instead, I noticed a bit of a lee along the southwestern shore, so I gave it a go with my floattube. Hugging the shore proved fine, as the depth fell off very quick. I used one of those wireless wristband fishfinders to help me but didn't mark many fish. The ones I did were deeper than 30 ft! I first tried trolling a thin-mint leech on a full sink line. I got a few hits but landed only one dinker brookie. I finally worked my way to the little cove, 2/3's way west long the southern shore. This proved a good spot--little to no wind and there were fish marked around the entrance. Switched to an olive hackled Carey Special and quickly scored two 9" brookies. Very pretty fish! On the return trip back, my fish finder marked a whole mess of new arrivals in the shallows of that same southern shore that was previously near-vacant. Mid-afternoon casting longer shadows off the trees must have been the invitation. Ended up picking up another dinker while drifting and occasionally kicking with the wind. Moving fast and hard-stripping a bead-head leech pattern can sometimes tease up a fish.

Though I fared well, if you decide to try Lost Lake, be careful about the "boat launch area." If your vehicle doesn't have good ground clearance, you might get high-centered trying to get out. It's a deceptively steep drop down from the road. Also, traction may become an issue with all the loose dirt and gravel.
