Had a fun time with my daughter last weekend on Long Lake. The wind, rain, hail and even a brief snow flurry made the day very interesting. We trolled for the alleged 15k lbs of triploids I heard were planted in Long a few weeks ago, but to no avail. After trolling awhile with no hits we switched to casting for smallies. We flipped the trees, casted some crank baits, but couldnt find the fish. My electric trolling motor quit on me, and we started getting blown around by the wind. As I was wiggling wires and checking fuses the wind took us pretty far off the shoreline into about 30 feet of water. That is when my daughter yelled, "Daddy I got one!" I hooked up at the same time for a double. We quickly caught 2 more in the deeper water before we called it a day. If my electric had not malfuntioned we would have not caught these fish. The fish were suspended at 15 feet in 30 feet of water. How is that for a strange pre spawn pattern! Ok, are you happy now AJ'sDad? I submitted the report as you requested! Hey fishelk, are we on for tomorrow?

wow nice job!...suspended fish? crazy....ha ha thats cool...I see you have an open can of night crawlers, is that what you were catching the smallies on???

Black Plague: My daughter caught her bass on 1/2 a crawler and a split shot while drifting. We were trying to catch Triploids. Has anyone heard about the triploid plant last week? I was told the state dumped 15k lbs in the lake.

I'm calling this guys bluff, you can't catch smallies on nightcrawlers (LOL) Don't let him fool you, they were using dough balls! OK I'm just kidding. That is a real prize she's holding there. She would be welcome to fish in my boat any time, as long as she will teach me the Small Mouth/Nightcrawler method. I hope she got a charge out of being posted on the internet. I gotta get me one of those hats. I think that's what did it. Nice going and like I told you the other day, "Keep that kid fishing"

Fishelk: I went up Saturday morning. Give me a call. AJ's Dad: I told you not to give away my secret dough ball smallie bait! Man, you just can't keep a secret. And yes, the hat is the other secret you gave away, we switch off with the hat each fish.
