Did Lake Stevens this morning, hmmm…that doesn’t sound quite right. I fished in Lake Stevens this morning. I was on the water about 6:00 and had the first fish on immediately. I’m thinking this is pretty cool! While transferring from net to stringer rod # 2, the downrigger rod goes off. It is a bigger fish (on my derby secrete weapon) and after a bit of a fight in the net it goes, It turned out to be almost 16” and faaaaaat. Again I am thinking this is good, I’ll be out of this rain by 9:00 and headed home. In the next ½ hour I caught 4 more fish and lost about that many. As the rain is dripping off my nose and running down my back I’m still thinking 9:00. And then the door slammed shut. For the next 3 hours it was a hit every ½ hour or so and none of them got to ride in my boat.
I trolled with a small Sepps dodger or a swing-blade type flasher followed by a home tied wedding band spinner, my go to rig for Lake Stevens. The fish liked the corn with a touch of scent today. My trolling depth was 12-28’ or ½-1 ½ colors on the lead line. The two biggest fish came on a ____ ____ ____, sorry can’t tell you. The water was 51degrees and I was trolling at 1.4-1.6 MPH. Final, count 6 nice fish.
After fishing I had the pleasure of meeting another WL.com member. Nice guy and it was great to talk fishing and boat stuff with him.
