Decided to go after the planters at Cottage Lake -- first time in a boat there. Got a late start at 09:30, fished till 13:30. After trying a few lures, the money lure was a custom spinner. About 10:00, started getting consistent action with it. I kept 4, released 3, got many other self-releases, nibbles. Nothing big, but sure was fun. I even boated a little yellow perch near the reeds on the far side from the public dock.
The last hour and a half I fished with a stranger that I invited off the dock, Matt. I set him up on my second pole with that spinner, which got him action right away. He got three fish to fill out his limit. I got one fish while fishing with him. It was nice the share the experience, and he even helped me break down my portabote and get it on top of my car, including hauling the heavy battery from the bote to my car. Thank you!
Water temp was about 57. A few other boaters, tubers, tooners, and the dock had many anglers. Got rained on off and on, but that did not matter while catching fish. :)
