Took the family for a short hike and some fishing/swimming to Boardman Lake. The weather was awesome as we arrived at the lake around 11am. Fished from a large boulder with a steep drop-off. We tried casting rooster tails with no luck and eggs and marshmellows with no luck. Finally caught a 12" cutthroat on a worm fished right on the bottom. Pretty fish but skinny. Also tried the first lake that you come to on the trail (I think its called Evans but not totally sure now). No luck there but you really need a float tube as there are trees totally surrounding the lake except for a few small spots. I've heard that fly fishing from a tube can produce some lunkers. The ranger at the Verlot ranger station has a photo for proof. The bugs were inescapable on this lake.
