I have been itching to try out my new spinners from the 1st WL.com RYO spinner swap and finally the weather and my schedule aligned so I ran down to Greenlake for a couple hours. Fished from 6-8pm, the weather was nice if a little cold - no wind, no rain. I fished the "T" dock on the south side of the lake and the "L" dock near the staduim. I threw my new lures the whole time cycling through all them. No hits, no hookups, but did have many complimets from others who saw the lures!. I saw a few caught with powerbait, but not many. Seemed to be a slow evening. I did however see something I had never seen before. I was on the end of the long "L" shaped dock, there was a group of 4 or 5 ducks near the dock close to the shoreline. I heard a big SPLASH behind me and when I turned around there was a seagull, with a baby duck in it's mouth trying to take off as the big ducks all rushed him. Well the baby was too heavy and the seagull could only make it to the dock about 20' from me. So here is the seagull holding the baby duck by the leg, baby duck squeaking and and the other ducks are freaking out. So I reeled in my line and casted at the seagull. Nailed him (luckily I didn't hook him) Seagull jumped, dropped the baby duck who made a beeline to the water where the big ducks surrounded it. The seagull flew around for about 5 minutes after that swooping down and trying to get another shot at the little one, but the big ducks held thier ground until he gave up and flew off. Nothing like a little target practice for the new WL.com BBQ!
