Went out last Sunday to Steel. Water and air temp were pretty cold probably low 50s.
Fishing was mildly slow but got 4 trout I kept in a couple hours.
Also caught a colorful male pumpkinseed.

Anybody know of a good perch lake (smaller) in Federal Way area? Caught some before in several small lakes around here but mostly dinks of 4-6 inches.

Not sure this time of year where to have success for Perch in the smaller lakes like Steel...

PS- anybody ever fish Mirror Lake?
Fairly small but just seems like it ought to have at least stuff like perch, bass, maybe bluegill or crappie?

I have never fished mirror, I think it may be private? I don't know any good perch spots around here. Killarney is good for bass trout and bluegill. Thanks for the report.

I've not fished this lake myself but I've seen some pretty good sized Bluegill come out of 5 Mile Lake down in that area. I don't know if it has a boat ramp so you'll want to check first if you hope to fish from a boat.

Ya Mirror is likely private but there's a couple spots I could launch a float tube from the street (312th) from what it looked like. If not, could ask a homeowner if it's OK and offer a small gift or something. But not sure if it is worth the effort.

Killarney does also have perch but seems they are mostly dinks. Occassional nice LMB too.

5 mile I heard has crappie and perch too, I'll have to fish it more this summer. Never have had much success there in the past but haven't spent much time there.

Gonna fish Steel again today. Probably play with the trout to start and see if any warmwater species wake up in the afternoon when water warms.

Thanx for the feedback Jake and Armando!
