Went back to Steel on Saturday. Didn't have my flyrod this time, just a Big-5 rod/reel special.

Tried a variety approach, went with a chironomid and strike indicator with about 5-8 foot leader drifting in the wind. Tried trolling hare's ear. Tried trolling and drifting (with wind) worm w/o weight.
The worm worked best, although the chironomid worked pretty well on the west end of lake too.
Actually managed to get my first perch of the season so giving this 4 stars, plus probably caught (released most) 10-12 hatchery trout total. Was out there for awhile though, maybe 5 hours. Biggest trout maybe 10 inches or so.

Kinda wanted to try and find perch more but ran out of time. So kept my 5th trout right by launch and called it a day.
At least I got my first perch, maybe the water is getting warm enough to get them going. Perch was maybe 7-8 inches so slightly bigger than the dinks that seem to overpopulate the little lakes around here. Tried a new method to clean the perch when they're small and it worked pretty well.
