At it again at deer lake layin the smackdown on these smallmouth. Was on the lake at the ungodly hour of 530am, 15 minutes after sunrise. 3rd cast my buddy in the blue coat nails this beauty , 2 hours later we have 10 or 11 fish caught and released. Headin back to the launch about 1030 i see fry on top of the water freakin out, obviosly being chased, so i cast past the commotion and on the retrieve smallybigs steps up to the plate and WHAMMY! This fat Pig swallows my shad rap and leaps out the water like Michael Phelps on stereroids! What a fight, what a morning!

Goodnight that smallmouth is beyond pig... HUGE... Wow... puts the Great Lakes fishery smallies to shame - which is hard to do.

I dont think these size smallies are commom for this area. But ive been fishen here for years and the smallies are gettn bigger and bigger every year.

It's tough to guess the weight of your fishes. Extending ones arms for a photo typically makes a fish look larger. taht said, they look like beauties. I have never fished Deer lake. I had no idea it had smallies and especially this good. Any idea how much they weighed?

i caught one i weighed last week that was a little over 5 and this one tho not as long was much fatter. id say 5 for sure. check my other posts on deer. I had an even bigger one a couple weeks ago.
