Hit the lake at about 5:00 this morning, kind of as a warm up for the derby next weekend. I was not looking for numbers but trying different rigs, depths and speeds to focus on larger fish. To some extent I had success on targeting the larger kokanee. My biggest advice is to think or fish out of the box. All the larger fish were deep and caught on some form of spinner or pink cyclopod like thing I tied up. Also the fish seemed to want a faster troll today, maybe as much as 2.0 mph. I hate to admit this but “Carp Spit” was the go to scent for the day. Water temp was 57 to as much as almost 70 degrees. Final count 7 fish, biggest one…was big.
As a side note some knucklehead almost ran me over with his bass boat. He was throttle to the wall while texting or something. He saw me hollering and waving my hands at the last minute and did a hard 90, barely missing me.
