I have never had any luck at waughop. I get more and more frustrated every time i see a report for waughop where people catch fish. I would try picking up some senkos and casting around the fallen trees and the over-hanging brush.

same here,out of the 12 or 13 times over the years i fished this lake with no luck just one rinky dink Bow but i have seen people catch some decent trout out of that lake,but one thing that i have not done witch i will be doing next time i go there is taking my blow up raft so i can hit every area possible,i think that if i had my little raft out there with me and was out in the middle im sure i would catch something decent.cause all around the shore line seems to be fished out.

right now is probably a good time to go because the bass are spawning. if you walk along the shore look for areas that are cleared out of weeds, leaves, branches, etc. if you see a clean open patch, usually over some rocks, that's a good indication that it's a spawning bed. if there is a bed there is most likely going to be a male, female, or both close by. sometimes they'll patrol the area or sometimes they'll be hovering over the bed. in these times they're less inclined to bite something with the intention of eating it. instead they are going to be in a defensive mode and try to attack anything that comes near the bed, especially if they have already laid their eggs. i know it sounds kind of mean but sometimes you just have to piss them off into biting. I caught a few bass out of wards lake behind the movie theatre on 84th street with this method. i kept tossing a storm wild eye sunfish and a red rattle trap in front of the bedding bass and either reeling it in past their face or jigging it directly in front of their face. sooner or later they're going to get pissed off and bite it. hope this helps a little.
