Cutthroat Trout

Spent a couple of mornings at Washington this week. It's pretty quiet on the week days. Lake has really turned on. I've been catching great numbers every trip out. It culminated this morning with a 22 inch cutty. He had 9 sicklebacks in his belly. Very fat, great fight, great day, great week! I love it when the fish are agreeable to what I'm presenting. The perch are really putting on the feed bags too. They're almost annoying but I'll never argue with constant action. Tight lines all.

Hey glad to hear the fish are cooperating, I live in downtown area and fish from a one person pontoon, any advice on a good spot to launch from?

FloatTube1, ditto steelhead597's question? Have you been float tubing during these successful outings? If so, are you willing to share where? (If you are willing, PM me as an option.) Thanks.

Yes I was out in the tube. And yes it does get nasty. :-) I've got an addiction. The large mouth are holding super tight to shore. I like brushy, overgrown banks and a fast retrieve. The cuttys are feeding on the outside edge of weed lines in 15 ft of water. Anything mimicking a smolt or a sickleback seems to work great. I've been using DT rapalas with chrome or silver holographic finish. I've had the pleasure of watching some huge fish busting schools of smolt within 5 ft of my tube. A lot of Pike minnows around too. Caught one last year that was 28 inches. Night crawlers will catch a little bit of everything as well, but the perch are voracious. Coulon, Magnuson, and Logboom are all great Parks to launch a tube from. Hope this helps.

Thanks float tube1 I will give coulon a try, hollar if you see and old guy sitting on a blue one man pontoon waving his fly rod around.

If you're gonna hit Coulon, hug the mouth of the river. Large streamers should get you into the trout. I'll be the Guy in a Panama hat and bright yellow float tube. Look for the portable depth finder as I have yet to see any other tuber using one. They take tubing up a step, plus the alarm has kept me from punctures when I'm not paying attention. Good luck.
