use bigger baits?

Heard a rumor that there were a couple of guys out there in a bass buggy this past weekend that caught a couple 5-7lbers. Nice ones! There's some 10+lbers in there!

Well I might know something about that bass buggy and the occupants. Eloika is a great lake to fish! With all the weeds it makes me feel right at home. Just like the lakes I grew up fishing tournaments on. As far as bigger baits I'll let you know how it works out later this summer when the weeds get really thick and matted up. I do however feel the lake has some really big fish in it.

I grew up on the lake and haven t seen anything come in that was weighed on a certified scale in the 10lb range. Lots of people say they caught fish that big but a lot of 7lb fish i guess are 10lb to others.....

Visually Craig, I've seen some 10+lbers in a few of the lakes around this area and Eloika is one of them. I fished southwest Texas (Lake Amistad) in the late 80's (stationed there in the Military) and caught a couple Florida strain LMB in the 10lb range and had one on that was probably 13+, my son can tell you that story, plus I have a 10.8lb on my wall. Craig, I'm sure your a veteran at this too and when you catch fish long enough you can do an accurate visual on the poundage when you see a fish in the water. Eloika, Newman and Clear are 3 of the lakes that I have visually seen LMB at 10+lbs. Actually, my wife had one on at Clear lake a few years ago realing in a Rainbow when it attacked it on the way in, and we all agreed that it was actually bigger than the one I have on my wall... Oh, I have also seen some at Chapman that may come close...
