What a beautiful Day. Wife Cindy and I headed up to Bridgeport State Park to meet Julie (a friend of ours) from the west side. She had came over on Wednessday and set up at the park. We arrived at the park around 08:00 to pick her up, and was on our way up to the lower most pens area by 08:30. It was a great ride up there, and the water was glass smooth in some areas. Got to the lower most pens, and started fishing above the pens, casting toward the shoreline on the tribal side. Fish were not cooperating very well, so we eased on down to just above the pens, and jigged B-2, Plastic minnow immitation, and Marabou jigs. Dark colors seemed to be prefered today. I missed a couple of hits, and Julie hooked up with the first fish of the day. It fought pretty well on the ultra-lite tackle , and came to the net after a good showing. It weighed in around 3 pounds. After that, the bite was fairly steady, and we C&Rd several smaller ones, had several spit the hook, and just plain missed some others. We were using 1/8 and 1/16 oz jigs with the barbs pinched down. We fished down along the outside of the pens, then trolled back up above the pens again. We caught fish from 10 inches up to the largest one of the day at 5 1/2 pounds. Julie caught the first and the largest fish today. We headed back down river by 12:00, and called it a great day. Julie was the better half and fishing partner of the late "Stampie" (Bob) here on the forum. Julie wanted me to pass on her thanks for the support from the folks here on the forum, and to let everyone know she is Holding up Bob's tradition of fishing, and their annual Rufus Woods Trip. My hats off to you Julie, You're One Tough Lady. The fishing pic is of a 3 person limit, and if you look at the bottom of the pick you'll see the 6th fish. It fell off the bar as I was shooting the pic. Also, there was an Owl's nest right behind Julie's trailer, and I was able to get a peek shot with a telephoto lens. There were two of the baby owls, but they were staying back in the limbs and a clear shot wasn't to be. one of the parent owls was sleeping in a tree about 50 yards away. They are Great Horned Owls.
