Was going to go fishing in the morning with my dad, but since it was raining, we had decided to wait & try another day. When the rain stopped and started to get nicer, I decided that I would hit the docks at Hill Park on Blackman's lake anyway for a couple of hours. I had my first trout within about 30 minutes of getting my lines out (I have a 2-pole endorsement) on the red power eggs and a small piece of maggot. The 2nd pole had a worm on, but didn't catch anything, so I switched over to a different color of power bait (tried sherbet, rainbow and green). Nothing. After an hour or so after the first trout, I caught a 2nd one on the same pole that caught the first one. So I switched the 2nd pole to the same bait as the first one that had caught the fish. Finally a few minutes before I was about to call it a day, a 3rd fish hit on the pole that had been catching the fish. When I got it up close to the dock I was in shock! The fish was huge compared to the all the other trout I had ever caught in my life! I had a triploid on! I had a net with me, but did not feel comfortable letting go of my pole in order to net my own fish this time, so another fisherman kindly did it for me. Everyone on the dock was in awe of the fish! We had all heard of the big triploids, but no one (including me) had ever seen one caught! When I got home, the triploid weighed 4 lbs on my handheld scale and was 21" long and had a 6" girth! That was the best ever day I have ever had fishing! I will definitely be going back to Blackman's to fish off the docks!

For anyone who wants to know where I was fishing, I was on the south dock, casting towards the northwest corner of the dock towards the center of the lake. I was using a slip sinker, and my line was not tight, but a little loose. The fish swallowed the hook, so there was no way I was going to lose him. My line did break eventually, but the fish was already up on the dock when it happened (whew!).

Good luck to all and tight lines.

That Triploid could have the the other two trout for breakfast and lunch. Nice report.
