It was a wet morning, but the bite was pretty consistant. On the lake about 7AM with about 4 boats already out ahead of me. Since I fish alone over half the time, I had previously sprung for the second pole endorsement so I could set up at 2 depths and colors. No fancy gear today, no fishfinder, no downrigger. Just a 1 oz. banana wt. with a sling blade, followed by a Macks' wedding ring in orange and green, tipped with a white Gulp maggot. Second rod had a similar set up, but with a 1/2 oz banana wt. and a green and black wedding ring. Both wedding rings had colorado type blades.
I started trolling from the boat ramp with about 30 to 40 feet of line out, and started getting bit right away. Both rigs were getting bit pretty equally, but the lighter weighted rig got the 1st 3 bites, so I shortened up the line with the 1 oz. weight, and it was a toss-up as to which would get the bite. At one point, they were getting bit before I had all the line out, so the biters were pretty shallow, and had a double on twice. A little small today, at 10 inches on avg.
And this was just my 2nd time fishing for silvers. My little trolling motor was on the #2 setting, so I'm guessing about 1.2 to 1.3 mph with my little 9 ft pram.
Oh yeah, I did put a snubber behind the weight to, see if it would help me put fish in the boat, since that was a problem 1st time out.

Did the snubber help land more fish?

Good to hear you had success with the kokes, keep at it and thanks for the report!

Nice great report. Would you say the gulp maggots are better than the power bait ones?

I think the snubber may have helped a little bit. I suspected that using the banana weight allowed the fish to get some slack in the line that I could not detect. My "git-um-in-the-boat" percentage was still below 50%, but still better than my first effort.
I have not tried the powerbait maggots, but I know many people have good luck with them.
